Does Helixio provide technical advice such as the design of the study? What support will Helixio provide for my project ?

Our goal is to make genomics clearer to you so we care about sharing our experience and discussing with your team. After a first meeting, we study your project and propose the most adapted technology. Then, we advise you on the optimal experimental design answering your needs, define the timeline and implement the study after receiving your validation. We provide progress updates during the duration of the project and answer any technical questions. Each step of your project is detailed in a comprehensive report that we deliver and comment.

Are quality checks performed on incoming samples?

Depending on the samples, quality controls are performed with Agilent Bioanalyzer, Nanodrop and Qubit. We ensure the quality and the quantification of samples before further processing.

My species is not represented in the commercial catalog. What can Helixio do for me?

The technologies offered by Helixio are customizable: we can create a microarray (expression profiling, arrayCGH…) or a target enrichment library (NGS) based on your needs. The team skills can be adapted to any type of species (eukaryotic or prokaryotic genomes) and to any type of studies. Feel free to contact us!

What type of control probes must be added for a custom Agilent CGH design?

Two types of control groups must be added. The normalization probes should be included when it is expected that most probes are localized in aberrant regions. The minimum number of normalization probes is one percent of the total features (at least several hundred probes). For a whole-genome microarray, it is not necessary to include this type of probes: there will be enough probes not involved in the study theme to apply a proper normalization. The second control probe type is the replication group. It is also added for expression microarray. These probes are used for the quality control during the data extraction.

What are the required files for a custom design?

It depends on the public databases or the files in your possession! It may be Genbank or Fasta files, lists of genes or IDs or genomic positions on reference sequences. In any case, we will study your files and let you know the feasibility.

How to choose the proper depth for my NextGen sequencing project?

Depending on your project and your needs, Helixio will advise you to meet your needs in term of coverage and depth.
